The referendum petitions were filed on 10/11, and we are pleased to report that we obtained more than enough valid signatures required by the Board of Elections (BOE). Thank you again to everyone who helped us reach this goal! The Hamilton County Commissioners adopted the resolution on 10/24/19 and directed the matter to the BOE to be placed on the March 2020 ballot.
There are just a few more hurdles to jump before the referendum is officially on the ballot.
1) The BOE drafts the ballot language
2) The BOE submits the ballot to the Secretary of State for approval
3) The BOE certifies the submission at their December meeting
4) A “challenge or protest” can be filed with BOE, but to date that has not occurred
Stay tuned for information about a gathering after the date of the BOE December meeting!!!
We so appreciate all those who are keeping up those yard signs! It is important in showing we are not done yet.
We hope y’all can come to the trustee meeting in November. Recent hot topics have been potential occupancy of the old Firehouse on Murray Road and also Fire Department costs/strategies.
